Biografi

Biography

According to pure legend, the family descends from a Tord in Byre, who is said to have lived on Olof Skötkonung's time and had the sons Andvitter, Gudleifr, Roleifr and Gunnar Herse, father of Tord, whose son Erik in Selånger had the sons Ture Heden, Herse and Siughard.

The mythical Bure genealogy is thus a curious - and quite typical - literary product of the late renaissance period.

The legendary hero "Fale Bure den äldre" (Fale Bure the Elder) is one of the more famous from the legends. He would, together with a crowd of men from Hälsinge, take part in Erik the Saint's crusade to Finland. Later, after the king's beheading, he and his army went to Uppsala . There they defeatedthe king's killer, the Danish prince Magnus Henriksson. Fale himself was killed and it is said that Falebro would have been named after him.

The earliest historically proven person of the Bure family is "Gamle Olof i Bureå" (Old Olof in Bureå) who is estimated to been born around the year 1400.
