Biography

Charles Burke was born in 1742 in North Carolina, his father, was 20 and his mother, Mary, was 27. He married Pheby Johnson, in 1759 in his hometown. They had seven children in 23 years. He died on October 8, 1806, in Greene, Georgia, at the age of 64.

1775 - 1783 Charles may have fought in the Revolutionary War. Pierce's has a Charles Burk from NC who is awarded land (doesn't say where) for 84 months service as a private. He got 640 acres by the Law of October 14, 1783. (Vol X , page 273} [Have not seen the the actural entry in Pierce's Register.] [Theophilus also served under Col. James Jackson.]
