Nathaniel aka Jeremiah was born on Feb 7, 1721 in Rowley, Massachusetts Bay Province. He was a son of Jeremiah Burpee and Rebecca (Jewett) Burpee.[1][2][3]
In the 1740s, he engaged in the war between the British and French known as King George's War which also involved many militia units from the New England colonies. He was at the siege of Louisbourg in 1745.[4]
He married Esther Rolfe on April 19, 1748 in nearby Bradford. She was a daughter of Ezra Rolfe and Sarah (Jackson) Rolfe.[3]
They had at least 3 known children born in Bradford before moving to New Hampshire. They settled at Chester in 1753, settling on "lot no 37, 3rd d, where Winthrop Mills had once lived." Their neighbours were William Turner on one side and Obed Hall on the other. Nathaniel was a tailor and a teacher of singing as well of one of the area's first Deacons.
They later moved to Candia, NH and were among the first settlers there. The Congregational Church chose him as a Deacon on the 4th Sabbath of 1773.[5]
Esther died in 1810.[3]
Nathaniel/Jeremiah passed away in 1815 at the age of 94.[3][4] He was interred at the Candia Village Cemetery.[5]
