Biography

Daniel Wesley Byrd was born November 02, 1842 in Branchville, South Carolina, and died June 02, 1926 in Branchville, South Carolina. Daniel married Julia Mantha Westbury, daughter of Lewis Westburg and Margaret Byrd, Margaret was born January 26, 1853 in Grover, SC and died June 13, 1918.

Daniel served in Company F. Second Regiment Artilley, Orangeburg District, of the Confederate Army. " War Records of Members of Camp T. J. Glover # 457, " housed at the Orangeburg County Historical Society, A. S. Salley Archives, in Orangeburg, South Carolina, gives his birth date as November 22, 1842, as his obituary also implies. The birth date of Nov. 2, 1842 is on the marker he shares with his wife at Sardis Methodist Church Cemetery at Branchville, South Carolina.

The marriage certificate from their Family Bible shows that Daniel Wesley Byrd of Branchville, South Carolina, and Julia Mantha Westbury of Grover, South Carolina, were married on Thursday, Nov. 21st 1867 at Grover, South Carolina, by Rev. John E. Penny.
