Biography

Étienne Bégin was born in East Tracadie, Nova Scotia about 1791. He was the son of Charles Bégin and Marie Josèphe Benoit.

Étienne married Judith Petitpas in East Tracadie on October 20, 1817. They had ten children including Edouard b. 1819; Marie-Angelique (aka Jane) b. 1821; Simon b. 1823; Appoline (aka Pauline) b. abt. 1825; Pascal b. 1827; Anne b. 1829; Elizabeth b. 1830; Valentin b. 1832; Toussaint b. 1834; and Desire.

The exact date and location of Étienne's death are unknown; however, it can be said that Étienne passed away after the 1851 Canada Census in which he is enumerated as being age 60.
