David was the son of Calvin H. Cain, who was born in Ritchie County, and Elsie Hair Cain, who was born at Holliday Cove, WV.
He married Clarinda Roberts. Their children were Kate, who married Garland Lockhart (also buried nearby in Freeport Cemetery); Beulah, who married a Jeffries; Hilda, who married a Nelson; Arlie who married Alston Fultz; Isaac; and David Lee Cain. [1]
