Biography

MARION Freda Calhoun Averette, age 83, of Marion, died Nov. 28, 2006 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, 2006 at Waycross Bible Methodist Church with The Rev. Ron McCormick and The Rev. Arthur Marchant officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Her husband, William "Bill" Averette, mother, Verlie Ryan Calhoun, father, Gayle Calhoun, and two brothers, Luther Calhoun and Jones E. Calhoun, preceded her in death. Survivors include three daughters, Billie Montz (Charles), Patricia Clements (Spencer) and Linda Clements (Don), all of Marion, Ala.; one son, Kenneth Averette (Lisa) of Moundville, Ala.; three sisters, Jessie Fuller of Alworth, Ga., Lavonia Martin of Tuscaloosa, Ala. and Shirley Sluder of Marion, Ala.; two sisters-in-law, Clara Calhoun Banks of Tuscaloosa and Louise Calhoun of Marion; 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Charles "Rusty" Montz, William Darryl Montz, Jimmy Clements, Ronald Clements, Roger Clements, Steven Averette, Ryan Averette, and grandson-in-law, Mike Kowzan.
