Manasseh Calkins was born in Tinmouth, Vermont in 1786. He married Mary McHuron in 1807 and had 13 children. They lived in Onondaga County, NY, where Manasseh was a founder of the Baldwinville Presbyterian Church. He died in Wood County, Ohio in 1846 and is buried in the Eisenhour Cemetery in Pemberville, Ohio.
