Biography

There is inconsistency with both her birth date and the day and place where she died. Her birth certificate says she was born in Samaria while other sources indicate that she was born in Trafalgar.

V. Rosemary (Callon) Owens passed away peacefully in her 89th year on Friday evening, October 5, 2007 at her residence in Greenwood surrounded by her loving family. She was a resident of Greenwood and a former 60 year resident of Morgantown.

Born April 15, 1918 in Trafalgar, she was the daughter of the late Everett and Nora A. (Fox) Callon. She lives in the heart of Robert D. Owens, her husband of 65 years. They were married on April 21, 1942. He survives.

She is much loved and cherished by her daughter, Saundra K. Perry of Columbus and her son, Dan (Marcia) Owens of Greenwood. Grandma is remembered joyfully by her twelve grandchildren, Beth (John) Dixon, Ryan (Courtney) Owens, Keri Crabtree, Michelle (Gary) Knight, Mason (Erica) Gallmeyer, Fred Perry Jr., Jamie Perry, Joe Perry, Brett (Jeanie) Perry, Dana Perry, Julie (Bruce) Giggy and Lisa (Jim) Spray. She is an inspiration to her 34 great-grandchildren and 10 great great-grandchildren. Rosemary is survived by her sister, Edna R. Ford of Franklin.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Bessie Hunsicker; five brothers, Clinton, Harlie, Bernard, Robert and Aubrey Callon; son-in-law, Fred Perry Sr.

Rosemary retired in 1983 as a Secretary for American States Insurance in Indianapolis after 25 years of service.
