Biography

Charles Campbell lived in Appalachia, in Virginia.

"Charles came to Augusta County, Virginia in 1730's. He bought 50 acres of land in 1746 by land grant from King George " ?", and in 1747 he bought 400 acres from John Anderson. He was a planter with numerous slaves and built a large house, the first story of stone, the second of logs... Charles willed his homestead to his son William, and the rest of the estate he left to be divided equally among his other children. Many of Charles descendants won distinction in the army and public life. Some were connected with Washington and Lee University, as trustees or instructors. However, it is well to recall the Campbell Motto "I scare call these deeds of our ancestors ours."

You are showing Charles as immigrating in 1740, yet he had children born in Virginia as early as 1735. I don't understand this.

Only one child Elizabeth [Campbell-18464] is listed as having a birthdate before 1740 and that date is uncertain. Thanks for your question, further research is necessary.
This biography needs a little cleaning up. You list that Charles and Mary had two sons named Charles. The first you list as Charles John b: 1739 and the other Charles b: 1741. I believe the was only 1 Charles. You list 3 children born in Rockingham County. They should read Augusta County as Rockbridge was not formed until 1777.
