Biography

Thomas and Ann Sterling Capell arrived in Virginia, British America in 1721.

Thomas and Ann had many children. They were John, Sarah, Edward, Ransom, Sterling, Charles, Mary, Ann, Anjalina, William I and Thomas 2. Sarah and Mary married Battle (s) brothers.

Sources reveal for the parents and siblings numerous locations of existence however after a study of Colonial Virginia maps, one realizes that the county lines of Sussex, Surry, Albemarle, and Southampton, Virginia and Northampton, NC and others moved through the years and yet they are all close in proximity. A map will be added to images showing this transition. That being said, a source may indicate a county that was true at the time the event occurred but yet not be true in a different period or in our present time.

With the large family, the Capells were found in Sussex, Albemarle, Surry, Southampton Counties, around James River, and others in Virginia, as well as Northampton, North Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, South Carolina and others as the family expanded.

Many of Thomas and Ann's children were born in Southampton, Virginia. They will be added to the profile as it is developed further.

Thomas died in Sussex County, Virginia, USA in 1769. His will is a very good source as it names his children and indicates that Thomas #2 and Ransom were certified to be executors when the will was approved in August, 1769. See sources below.
