Bernardo Carrabba, the son of Andrea Carrabba and Maria Salemi, is born on 16 January 1817 in Corleone and is baptized the next day. His godparents are Giuseppe Campagna and his wife, Vincenza.[1]
He marries Giacinta Spinella, the daughter of Giovanni Spinella and Liboria Pomilla, on 10 May 1846 in Corleone.[2]
Giacinta and Bernardo have at least five children: Andrea (c. 1846), Maria (c. 1846), Giovanni/John (1852), Paolo (1855), and Liborio (c. 1861).
Giovanni is born 6 December 1852 and baptized the next day in Corleone. His godparents are Giovanni di Bella and Calogera Bartolotta, a married couple. [3]
Paolo is born on 10 November 1855 in his parents' home on via San Leonardo in Corleone.[4]
Maria marries Antonino Paternostro on 25 October 1868.[5]
Andrea marries Giovanna Colletti on 20 September 1874. This record calls his mother "Elisabetta."[6]
Giovanni marries twice, first to Lucia Crapa, on 14 October 1877 in Corleone.[7]
Liborio marries Maria Rosa Guagliardo around May 1884 in Corleone.[9]
Paolo, Maria, Liborio, their spouses and children all emigrate to the United States together in 1886 through the port of New Orleans in Louisiana.[10][11] Giovanni, known as John in the United States, also emigrates, at an unknown date.
John dies 28 August 1928 at age 76 in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas. He is buried in Mt Calvary Cemetery under the name “John Carroba.”[12] He is buried with his second wife, Rosie Brocco Carrabba, also from Corleone.[13]
