Biography

James was born on 25 April 1839 to Dulaney Carter and Rebecca Carter.

The August 1850 census[1][2]shows James residing with his family in Western District, Scott County, Virginia, United States of America.

The September 1870 census[3]shows James residing with his family in Fulkerson Township, Scott County.

The June 1880 census[4]shows James continuing to reside with his family in Fulkerson District.

The April 1870 census[5]shows James continuing to reside with his wife Nancy Carter in Fulkerson District.

The April 1900 census[6]shows James continuing to reside with his family in Fulkerson District.

The April 1910 census[7]shows James continuing to reside with his wife Nancy Carter in Fulkerson District.

James, late of Fulkerson, passed away[8]aged seventy eight on 21 September 1917 of Arteriosclerosis with cardiac lesion. James was laid to rest[9]the following day on 22 September 1917 in Blue Spring Cemetery, Scott County.
