Biography
According to the family bible, Charles was born on July 17, 1810. He was the son of Charles Carter and Ann Steuart.
Charles never married and died at the age of 31 on June 16, 1842.
His death was noted in the Daily National Intelligencer on June 21, 1842.
On the 16th instant, at Ridgeville, Fauquier county, VA., the residence of his father, Charles L. Carter, Jr. in the thirty -first year of his age. Possessing in an eminent degree the qualities of honor, truth, and generosity, all who knew respected and loved him. He died as all must wish to die, with an undoubting faith in the glorious truths of Christianity, at peace with his God, his neighbor, and himself.[1]
