Ethel Kate Cartwright was born in 1884 in Leicester, Leicestershire, England and baptised on 23rd March 1884 at the Anglican Church of St Margaret, Leicester, along with her brother, Thomas Albert Cartwright. She was the daughter of Thomas Cartwright (a painter) and his wife, Ann Elizabeth Musson of Paddock Street.

Ethel Kate Cartwright (spinster age 33), of 155 Tudor Road, Leicester, the daughter of Thomas Cartwright (painter, deceased) was married to Frank Parker (bachelor age 22, a tramway conductor) of 55 Noble Street, the son of Tom Parker (cigar maker), on 30 Mar 1907 at the Anglican Church of St Paul, Leicester. Thomas Albert Cartwright and Lilian Cartwright were witnesses. John E Murray officiated.
