Biography

Leoluca Mariano Gioachino Cascio is born 7 September 1742 and baptized the next day. He is the son of Stefano Cascio and Lucia Colletto. His godparents are Domenico and Giovanna Rizzotto, a married couple.[1]

Leoluca marries twice, first to Maria Rizzotto, the daughter of his godparents, on 29 November 1766. His father is living, and his mother has died by this time.

Leoluca and Maria have at least two children, Gioachino (1767) and Giuseppe (1769).

Gioachino is born 4 December 1767 and baptized the next day. His godparents are Francesco Maringo and Pascha, wife of Stefano lo Cascio.[2] Pascha is Leoluca's father's second wife.

Giuseppe is born and baptized 13 January 1769. His godparents are Giuseppe and Antonina Chiarello, a married couple.[3]

Leoluca marries his second wife, Emmanuela Todaro,[4] on 4 February 1770.

Luca and Emmanuela have at least nine children: Francesco Paolo (1771), Biagia (1774), Lucia (1776), Liboria (1779), Giuseppe (1780), Liborio (1783), Giovanni Battista (1785), Antonina (1786), Girolamo (1788), and Stefano (1791).

Francesco Paolo is born and baptized 8 February 1771. His godparents are Giuseppe and Antonia Chiarello, a married couple.

Biagia is born and baptized 31 January 1774. Her godparents are Giuseppe Santoro and Mariana, wife of Leoluca Guarino.

Lucia is born 21 October 1776 and baptized the next day, named after her paternal grandmother. Her godparents are Leonardo and Maria Ruffino, a married couple.[5]

Liboria is born 19 January 1779 and baptized the next day. Her godparents are Silvestre and Gioachina Marino, a married couple.[6]

Giuseppe is born 8 June 1780 and baptized the next day. His godparents are Arcangelo and Antonia Ferraro, a married couple.[7] This record erroneously names Giuseppe's mother Emmanuela Russo.

Liborio is born 5 March 1783 and baptized the next day. His godparents are Serafino and Giovanna Madia, unmarried brother and sister.[8]

Giovanni Battista is born and baptized 9 February 1785, named after his maternal grandfather. His godparents are Angelo and Rosaria Trumbatore, a married couple.[9]

Giovanni Battista dies on 18 December 1785[10] at ten months of age.

Antonina is born and baptized on 13 November 1786, named after her maternal grandmother. Her godparents are Maestro Giuliano d'Amore, husband of Francesca, and Francesca, wife of Francesco Todaro.[11]

Liborio dies on 14 January 1787.[12] He is three years and ten months old.

Antonina dies 20 December 1787.[13] She is thirteen months old.

Biagia marries Andrea Marino on 28 September 1788.

Girolamo is born 22 November 1788 and baptized the next day. His godparents are Giuseppe and Caterina Firmaturi, a married couple.[14]

Stefano is born and baptized 31 March 1791, named after his paternal grandfather. His godparents are Gioachino and Rosa Badami, a married couple.[15]

Francesco marries Maria Vintaloro on 7 January 1794.

Lucia marries Francesco Palazzo on 8 November 1795.

Giuseppe marries Maria Oliveri on 3 February 1805.

In 1807, Luca, reportedly age 60 (early in the year, when this census is taken, he is 64), his wife Emmanuela, 56 (b. 1751), and sons Girolamo, 18 (b. 1789), and Stefano, 17 (b. 1890), live beside the church on S. Elena in Corleone. Their neighbors include their married children Giuseppe, Lucia, and Biagia.

Girolamo marries Biagia Guzzetta on 30 April 1810.[16]

Stefano marries Carmela Streva on 7 January 1816.

Death of Leoluca

Leoluca dies, reportedly at age 92 (he is 84) on 29 December 1826. Emmanuela survives him.

Emmanuela dies at age 80 (b. 1749) on 25 October 1829.

Francesco Paolo dies, reportedly at age 80 (he is 61) on 5 January 1832. His wife, Maria, survives him.

Giuseppe dies at age 60 (b. 1773) on 27 October 1833. His wife, Maria, survives him.

Stefano dies, reportedly at age 73 (he is around 83) on 18 April 1853. He is survived by his wife, who is called Carmela Marino in this record. Emmanuela has also died by this time.

Girolamo dies, reportedly at age 72 (he is 67) on 16 July 1856. He is survived by his wife, Biagia Guzzetta.

Lucia dies in her home in via S. Elena, Corleone, on 16 February 1857, reportedly at age 85 (she is 80).

Biagia dies,reportedly at age 95 (she is 88) on 21 September 1862, the widow of Andrea.
