He was the son of Cornelius Cayley and Ann Tyrwhitt. He was born on 20 October 1683 and baptised at Brompton-by-Sawdon, Yorkshire the next day.[1][2]
Hugh was buried at St Michael le Belfrey, York on 14 February 1694.[1]
