MAJOR US ARMY WORLD WAR II & KOREA VETERAN

Biography

Birth

Ralph Gordon Chadbourne was born April 18, 1925 in East Baldwin, Maine. His parents were Everett Donald Chadbourne and Viola S. Cones. [1]

Timeline

1930 Ralph was only four years old and was too young to attend school yet. His family lived in Baldwin, Cumberland, Maine. [2]

1940 Ralph was now in the eighth grade and his family still resided in the same house in Baldwin, Cumberland, Maine. [3]

1947 Vermont, Marriage Records, Ralph Gordon Chadbourne and Carol Eaton Cox were in Norwich, Windsor, Vermont on December 6, 1947 to get married. I have no doubts that it was a cold, chilly day in Vermont, but a perfect day to get married. Carol Cox was currently living in Hanover, New Hampshire and her occupation was that of a nurse. Her parents were Philip Hugh Cox II and Dorothy Morgan Cox. The ceremony was performed by a clergyman of the Congregational Denomination. [4]

1954 U.S., Select Military Registers, 1862-1985, Ralph had enlisted in the military on 1 July 1954. According to the Army Register his service was spent: CR AB 46 M Comm Sc 47 Dartmouth College Marine 13 Feb 43 to 8 Nov 49. 1stLieutenant Infantry National Guard 9 Nov 49 to Captain AUS 1 July 1954 RA 2Lieutentant QMC 14 Jul 53 D/R 10 Jan 1951 to 1stLt 10 Jan 54 PL17657 [5]

1958 City Directories, Ralph and Carol Chadbourne lived at 8 Hampton Court, Petersburg, Virginia in the year 1958. Ralph's occupation was the United States Army.[6]

1966 On June 13, 1966, Ralph Gordon Chadbourne passed away. I am sure that his wife Carol was devastated beyond belief. We all think that we can be strong for our children, but in the end we break down and let the tears flow as they should. [7]

After anyone dies there are so many things that need to be taken care of. Social Security will need to be notified so that Carol can receive Ralph's Social Security or their children. [8]

Because Ralph was a Korean War, and World War II Veteran he will be interned at Arlington National Cemetery. [9]
