Biography

Jean-François Champollion was born in France, where at age 10 he was introduced to Egyptian hieroglyphics, which he promised eventually to solve. He is younger brother to Jacques-Joseph

Jean-François was instrumental in deciphering the Rosetta Stone.

Jean-Francois died 4 March 1832 of apoplexy, cutting short his amazing work in Egyptology.
