Biography

1776 Project
Joseph Chaney Sr served with Pittsylvania County Militia, Virginia Militia during the American Revolution.

Joseph was born about Feb 1758. Joseph Chaney was a substitute for his brother Abraham in the American Revolutionary war. He passed away before 19 Aug 1833.

Joseph Chaney's will is dated 17 Jun 1832. It was proved on 19 Aug 1833. At the time his will was written he named the following sons: Reuben, James, Jacob, Jesse, Elijah's son Marshall and grandchild Frances Chaney, Joseph's children Julia and Elizabeth Chaney.
