Biography

John Hart Chapman was born on July 25, 1802 in South Carolina. He was the son of Nathan Chapman and Elizabeth Hart. [1][2]

John married 3 times. His first wife was Hapzibah Elizabeth King and they had 3 daughters together: Elizabeth Adelia, Sarah Jane, and Susan Melvina. He married Mary Meadows (married 1st to Henry Daniel), after Hapzibah's death. They had no children together. They were only married for a few years before Mary's death. John then married Rachel Colclough (married 1st to Thomas Morris) on January 27, 1831. They went on to have 8 children together. [3][4][5]

John was a farmer in Taliaferro County, Georgia and also served in the Georgia Legislature. [6][7]
