Biography

Hannah Chapman was born on October 11, 1725 in Groton, New London, Connecticut.[1] She was the daughter of Jonathan Chapman and Hannah (Bailey) Chapman, who had married in Groton in 1723.[2] Hannah married Stephen Loomer on October 11, 1749 in Bozrah, New London, Connecticut.[3][4] Hannah Chapman and Stephen Loomer had the following known children:

  • ii. Jonathan Loomer, b. 16 Jun 1752, Bozrah, New London, Connecticut.
  • iii. Levi Loomer, b. 20 Feb 1753, Bozrah, New London, Connecticut, d. 25 Jan 1843, Cornwallis, Kings, Nova Scotia.
  • iv. Hannah Loomer, b. 18 Feb 1754, Bozrah, New London, Connecticut, d. 29 Dec 1835, Cornwallis, Kings, Nova Scotia.
  • v. Esther Loomer, b. 15 Feb 1756, Bozrah, New London, Connecticut, d. 1841, Cornwallis, Kings, Nova Scotia.

Note: Bozrah is a rural township adjacent to Norwich, New London, CT. Virtually spitting distance between the two towns.

Hannah and her husband Stephen brought their family with other New England Planters to the new Cornwallis Township, Kings, Nova Scotia. They migrated between June 1761, when son Stephen was born in Norwich, and March 1762, when daughter Mary Ann was born at Cornwallis.[5] Hannah Chapman Loomer died on June 27 1778, at Upper Pereaux in Cornwallis Township.
