Origin
1st son This section refers to "Pierre Samuel Chastain," born about 1692, most-likely at Vevey, Vaud Canton, Switzerland, where the family lived until 1696. He was the son of Pierre Chastain Sr., MD and his first wife, Susanne (Renaud) Chastain. This son, who emigrated to Virginia, died about the same time as his mother during the "starving winter" of 1700-1701, at Manakin-Town, Virginia, where the French colonists arrived too late to grow a first year's crop before winter arrived.[4]
The Pierre Louis Chastain of this WikiTree profile is for his brother, born in 1707 in Virginia. ( see this pierre below )

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Pierre by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Pierre:
Chastain-1924 and Chastain-180 appear to represent the same person because: same approximate birth date. I edited Chastain-1924 to match the Find A Grave entry that manager had listed as source, so the death date is approximately the same. Only difference that I see is the town of birth.
As was pointed out, the findagrave states that WITT is not her surname, but says both that lnab is ARCHER and that it is unknown. Pierre is reported recorded as executor of Wm WITT's will, Wm being gf of James Chasteen's spouse Nancy Kenedy.
Chastain-1495 and Chastain-180 appear to represent the same person because: they have the same birth date and parents. Also, they ended up as a duplicate listing after the merge of two profiles for the father.
Chastain-1184 and Chastain-180 appear to represent the same person because: Very clearly the same person; same dates/locations/spouse/parents. This family is well documented and these are clearly the same people. Please merge.
Pierre Chastain b.1659 was the father of Peter Pierre Chastain b. 1707. Judith Chastain is not his sister, but his daughter. He also had a son Pierre Chastian b. 1732. It gets a little crazy when they keep the same names for each preceding generation. ;-)
Please review and merge if you agree.
Thank you.
