Biography

Joel was the son of Jesse Cherry and Elizabeth Gainer. He may of first married about 1798 , Sarah Ervin (maiden name very uncertain based off name of a son which is an unusal first name in the era) . His first wife died about 1815, and he married second about 1817, Sarah UNKNOWN-126118 seen below in the 1850 census.

Dated 25 August 1832 was surveyed for James CHERRY 150 acres on the waters of the Barren Fork of Collins River, south of Jas. CHERRY'S SE corner of a 50 acre tract, a conditional corner between Oliver DUNCAN and said CHERRY, Joel CHERRY'S line, including and platting out 50 acres of granted land. On 4 January 1834. Erwin CHERRY and Joel CHERRY, CC. There is an error in copy location it calls to run north which is too far. J.B. PERKINS, DS. September 29, 1835. Sent on 3 November 1835 by J.B. PERKINS. [4]
