THOMAS CLARKE was born 1 November 1570 in Westhorpe, Suffolk, England and baptized 3 November 1570 in Westhorpe, Suffolk, England. He died 29 July 1627 in Westhorpe, Suffolk, England and was buried 30 July 1627 in Westhorpe, Suffolk, England.
Thomas Clarke may have taken his father's lands in Westhorpe as he seems to have resided at that place when his children were born, while his brothers John, Carew and Christopher took their father's lands in Finningham as is seen in the two subsidies levied at Finningham in 1596/7. [1][2]
He married ROSE KERRICH, daughter of William Kerrich and Margery ------, 13 May 1600 in Saxsted, Suffolk, England. She was baptized 13 April 1572 in Saxsted, Suffolk, England. She died 19 September 1627 in Westhorpe, Suffolk, England, and was buried 20 September 1627 in Westhorpe, Suffolk, England. Residence: Westhorpe, Suffolk, England.

The 2nd of the 10th month 1674, Thomas Clarke, son of Thomas Clarke, of Wastrup, departed this life in Newport, on Rhode Island, in the house of his brother.

The 20th of the 2d month, 1676, my brother John Clarke, in the ngiht, departed this life in his own house in Newport, on Rhode Island.
Page 8: The brothers Carewe, Thomas, John and Joseph, sons of Thomas Clarke, were among the early settlers of Newport. 'Joseph was the only one who left any issue'; his children, who were living Dec. 19, 1674, according to an entry recorded immediately after the will of his brother Thomas (Vol. VI p. 205, R.I. Hist. Mag.), were:
Joseph, John, William, Mary, Joshua, Sarah (married Thomas Reynolds), Thomas, Kazy (undoubtedly Carey) and Elizabeth.
Joseph, who was b. Feb. 11, 1642, and who married Nov. 16, 1664, Bethiah, daughter of Samuel Hubbard, removed to Westerly in 1661. From the Westerly Records we learn that his children were:
Judith, born October 12, 1667.
Joseph, born April 4, 1670.
Samuel, born December 29, 1672.
John, born August 25, 1675.
Bethiah, born April 11, 1678.
Mary, born December 27, 1680.
Susanna, born August 31, 1683.
Thomas, born March 17, 1686.
William, born April 21, 1688.
John, the second son of Joseph, of Newport, had at least one son, also named John, born 1696. The old Bible descended to him, together with a portion of Dr. Clarke's estate.[4]

2-year old reply to the 2017 query about 2 Margarets...the first-born (Feb 1600 which could have meant 1600/1601) was recorded in the family bible (p.274 of NEHGR vol 75), the 1608 baptism was recorded in the Westhorpe parish registers (p.277 of NEHGR vol 75). Curious on the February 1600 birth date of Margret Clarke, Thomas' daughter. I understand this was written in the Family Bible so you would think it was right, but it is strange that she would have been born before Thomas and Rose were married (May 1600). Unless there had been a wife prior? I see there is also a link to another Margaret, not listed in the family Bible, that has a birth day the same as the death date of the first Margaret? I've been trying to sort out these two Margarets for hours and I am so confused! Lol! Any insight? Was the 1608 born Margaret really the child of Thomas Clarke?
Is it possible to add to Thomas Clarke's profile his line of descent from the Magna Carta Surety Baron Sir Sahel de Quincy, as it is at his great-grandmother Elizabeth Ferrer's profile?
