ODDFELOWS' 'BALL BRILLIANT FUNCTION.
The M.U.I.O.O.F. ball eventuated in Frape's new hall last evening. It was a decided success. Certainly the fact of its being the opening night of the now hall contributed towards its success, but the order has always had a good name for doing the right thing in the right way. It was organ- ised to celebrate the attaining of the lodge membership to 100, an idea that the directing spirits formulated when the lodge was in the eighties. The hall was not decorated, the in- ternal decorations serving the purpose.
During the evening the visiting of- ficers from tho various lodges of the order in the district., assembled on the stage, Bro. Stan Higgins (Mill- thorpe Lodge presiding). He said that this function would bring under the notice of many present the aims and objects of the society. He called upon Bro. Bacon to say a few words, and thank those who attended for their patronage. For some years, he said, the Millthorpe Loyal Hampton Lodge was in a complete state of in- activity. A couple of years back they formulated the desire to raise the membership to 100, and as they near- ed their objective they decided to celebrate the attaining of it by a suitable function. They had now 108 memers. (Applause.) Bro Bacon concluded with an appeal to all pre- sent, who were not members of a friendly society ,to join one at once, and dwelt, at the same time on the merits of the M.U.I.O.O.F.
Bro. Hertslett (P.D.GM., Orange), thanked the local lodge for their kind invitation, and for the splendid evening spentt
Bro. Callaghan. Loyal Star of the West Lodge. Orange), Bro. F| Agland (Loyal Lucknow Lodge), Bro., Pittendridge (Loyal Blayney Star Lodge), and Mr J. Burns (Loyal Pride of Cadia Lodge. Orange) also spoke thanking the Millthorpe lodge.
The music was splendid by the Lehmann orchestra, Messrs. Leh- mann (piano), Kiover (violin), Brown (cornet). The entering was, indeed, high-class. Mrs. W. Norris, with her usual ability, placed a sumptuous spread, which was done justice to by all and thoroughly enjoyed. Mr. C. Needham actor as M.C.
