Roger de Clifford, 2nd Lord Clifford, was son and heir of Robert Clifford and Maud Clare.[1]
Sir Roger had been taken prisoner at the Battle of Boroughbridge and executed at York[1] on 23 March 1322 for joining the rebellion of Thomas, Earl of Lancaster.[2] His brother ,Robert, was restored in blood as successor by Edward III[1] and had seisin to his mother's and brother's lands in 1327.[2]
There is no proof that Roger de Clifford ever married, he died s.p.
Clifford Pedigree: He joined the Barons organized by Piers Gaveston, and was taken prisoner at the battle of borough-bridge. His lands were seized by the King. Two parts of his house, called Clifford's Inn, in London, were granted to Robert de Welles, who had married his mother, and the Castle and Honour of Skipton was bestowed upon Geoffrey le Scrope.
