Biography

Jian was the daughter of Gervase Clifton^[1] and his first wife [[[Herbert-15|Isabel Herbert]]. Her birth date and place are not known: her father held property in Northamptonshire, London and Kent.^[2][3]

She married John Digges.^[1][2][3] The marriage date and place are not known. They had three known children:

• James^[1][2][3]
• Isabel, who married Richard Sackville^[2][3]
• Mary, who married William Brent^[2][3]

Joan was buried at Brabourne, Kent.^[2][3][4]
