Biography

Sherry was born Dixie Lee Doyle; at about 2 years old, she and her full sister and 3 half siblings were removed from their mother's care by the Wisc. Social workers. Sherry and sister Carole were put up for adoption. 'Dixie' became Sharon Bette Koepp. Sherry married Roger William Sievert and became 'Sherry' Sievert. Roger served in the USAF for over 20 years; he retired and studied for the ministry and became ordained. He pastored 2 churches before He passed away in 1985. Sherry and Roger had four children, 2 boys, 2 girls; Sherry has 7 grandchildren (1 adopted) and 12 great-grandchildren (2 adopted, 1 step). Sherry and youngest daughter raised Arabian horses for about 20 years. Sherry also taught crafts, decorated cakes, played piano and organ for many of the churches that she and Roger attended while he served in the AF. For the last 20 years, many hours have been spent searching her ancestry.

Sherry lives with her youngest daughter and is a support person for Central Lakes Search and Rescue in rural Minnesota for which her daughter is a K-9 handler.
Sherry (Clough) Sievert is a descendant of a Mayflower Passenger.

After over 18 years of searching my Ancestry, I have finally found two lines to the Mayflower Passenger Richard Warren-66; One through my maternal lineage to his Daughter Anna; The other through my paternal lineage to his daughter Abigail.

Sheena - Here it is, 3/1/24 and I just opened up your post. June 23,23, my daughter raced me to the hospital for emergency surgery. The doctor said I was 3 min. from heaven. After surgery, rehab, I was finally home Aug 1. Aug 5, my youngest son died in a motorcycle accident. Sept. 9th, my new puppy tripped me up - back to the hospital to find that my pelvis was fractured. Back to rehab. I was finally home about the end of Sept. I didn't do much on my computer at first, but finally this year, I'm back at it - that is, working on my ancestry - trying to see how far back I can go. So far, I've gotten to Robert (1120-1189) in my Scottish line.

In Dec. my granddaughter traveled to Scotland & Ireland. She brought me back a beautiful "Heritage of Scotland Tartan. Since I had my DNA done and found that I was heavy Scottish (I had no clue as I was adopted) with Northern Scotland #1 and Southern Scotland as #3. Since then, I have spent a lot of time filling in the history/people behind me. Hopefully, I can continue with my searches - but at my age (83) who knows what The Lord has planned for me!

Hi Sherry,

It is once again time for our annual Scotland Project check-in. Please respond within the next three weeks to let us know:

•If you would like to continue as a project member •If you are happy with your current teams or would you like to join a different team •How much time per month (on average) you spend working on Scottish profiles •Anything you’d like the Scotland Project to do more of in the future

You can respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message on WikiTree. If we don’t hear from you within the next three weeks we’ll assume your interests have changed or you are no longer able to participate in the Scotland Project at this time, and your badge will be removed. If your circumstances change later you will be welcome to reapply for membership.

On behalf of the Scotland Project, I would like to thank you for your commitment to the project's goals. Every single contribution you make helps improve Scottish profiles!

Sheena - Scotland Project Membership Coordinator

Hello

It’s time for a Project check-in!

Scotland Project Leaders check in with you at least once a year to see how you are doing. With the changes happening around the world, we understand that life is hectic right now.

What are you planning to work on for the Scotland Project this year? Are you happy with the team(s) you part of, or would you like to make some changes?

This time round, we’re also looking for feedback on the use of Google Group and Discord. Do you use one or both of these? If you don’t use either of them, what is the best way to ensure you receive Project communications? If you would like to join us on Google Group or Discord, let us know in your response.

No, I don't use Google Group or Discord - actually to be truthful, I've never heard of them. I'm rather old fashioned; - e-mail is still the best way to communicate with me.

This year so far has been one crisis after another, and I've spent very little time on my ancestry searches. I'm still interested in finding out more of my Scottish background.

Thanks for the invite; I'm due at the hospital Mon. Morning for a procedure for my back - this week has been a lot of appointments . I just won’t be available at this time.
Hi Sherry,

I hope all goes well with your procedure! If you find that you need some entertainment during recovery - the -thon is in July, not June. No pressure, just want to make sure you're aware that it's a month away.

It just shows how my mind is coping this week. July isn’t much better; on the 6th I will have the ‘joys’ of getting a 2nd knee replacement. We’ll see how I’m doing then. I haven’t had much chance to do anything with my ancestry stuff for the last couple of months. I’ll be glad when this is all over. This ‘pandemic’ has slowed everything down big time. I live in a rural community. I can’t imagine what the metros are like.
You weren't the only one to think it was this weekend vs. July, you're in good company ;) Watching our local news (Florida) is truly frightening, and our plan is to keep on with our current course - staying home as much as possible. I do hope your medical issues are all resolved and you'll be up & about soon!

Hello Sherry,

My name is Sarah and I’m the Project Coordinator for the Scotland Project. As you may have heard, we have merged the Scottish Clans project into the Scotland Project. I am contacting you today to find out if you are interested in continuing with us under this new format. If you would like to go forward on the Scottish Clans Team, please reply and let me know which clans you have been working on or would like to work on. I look forward to hearing from you.

Best Regards,

Sarah Mason, Scotland PC

Sarah - Yes, I am interested in the Scottish Project. I really don't know what is involved in being a part of a project. I asked someone awhile ago regarding a different project and never received an answer. What do I do as part of a 'project'? What is expected of me? My DNA was heavy Scot, both northern and some southern. I haven't focused on any particular clan - I've so many back there that it would be hard to decide. I've found the Agnews, Bruce, Campbells, Carmichaels, Crawford, Comyn, Cunningham, Hamilton, Douglas, Dunbar, Dundas, Erskine, Gifford, Gordon, Graham, Gray, Galbreath, Hepburn, Kennedy, Lindsay, Makgil, Maxwell, Muir, Oglilvie, Oliphant, Ross, Shaw, Sinclair, Summerville, Stewart, Wallace, Weymes, and Walburton and possibly Knox (the latter has a line glitch which I'm still trying to resolve).
I guess I'm blessed to be in rural Minnesota. Although many businesses were closed for a bit, especially sit down restaurants, most are now open to varying degrees. My favorite restaurant just opened this past week - but because of my upcoming surgery, I just got tested and have to hide at home. Bummer. Wal Mart, Menards, Fleet Farm all remained open - so I wasn't inconvenienced very much.

I really want to get back to verifying my many Scottish lines - so many clans showed up but I've been having trouble to get them verified because the info back in Scotland is lean. Thank goodness, my DNA show heavy Scottish, both northern and southern. So some of those lines should be correct, wouldn't you think?

Sherry. Here's the Mayflower Project Page. Most Project pages have directions on how to join the project. So read the page and then answer (answer not comment) the Welcome/Join post in G2G

I noticed several people asked how to get a Mayflower badge/patch. I have two lines to Richard Warren - one through my father's line to Richard's daughter Abigail and one through my maternal line through Richard's daughter Anna.
Re: Thomas Terry-2461. Sherry would you like to place a sourced list of children on the profile and then add the children?

I'm not sure what you want me to do, Sherry. Merging the two Joanna Ford profiles won't make any changes to the spelling of her husband's surname. Lots of people in the 1600s and 1700s spelled their own names several different ways. Any additional spellings can be put in the 'Other Last Names' field.

It looks like you may have some outstanding merges that need attention. You can find them by following the link at the top of this page under >My Wikitree>Watchlist, then hit the button that says Pending Merges I started to do them, but, realized that they will be a great learning experience for you.

What an interesting path Sherry. I wouldn't have guessed at Portuguese ancestors from your primary surnames. I wish you all the best of luck in finding those connections!

I think you'll find a complete explanation about unresponsive profile managers if you click on the link I gave you. Is there something more you want to know?
posted by Kay (Johnson) Wilson
Hi Sherry. I've proposed a merge for the two profiles for your mother. The other profile manager hasn't been active on WikiTree since 2016, so may not be available to complete the merge. (You both need to agree to it.) If he doesn't agree, after 30 days the merge will go to default, and you will be able to complete it yourself. Your other possibility is to use the Unresponsive Profile Manager process here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Unresponsive_Profile_Managers

Hi Sherry

I sent you a step by step guide to adding the England Project as manager to a profile to your personal email, as I can't add pictures using the Wikitree private messaging system.

Hope you got it OK

Hi Sherry and thanks for your post on G2G.

Welcome to the Scottish Clans Project. I've added the project badge to your profile and your name to the members interest page. Here you can let others know what you are working on.
