Michael was a farmer in Georgia

Michael was born in 1768 in the Virginia Colony to James Cody III and Sarah Womack. He had at least 9 siblings: Ailsie, Jesse, John, Jacob Sr, Edmund, Richard, David, Alsey, and Sarah Womack. He was a first generation American. His father migrated from Ireland to America. His mother may have been born in the Virginia Colony.

He was about 7 years old when his father moved the family to Caswell County, North Carolina, about 1775. Due to the desolation of the country by the British and the Tories, times were difficult, and he probably did not have a proper education. He was considered "large for his age and strong of limb" and had to work on the farm from early to late to earn his "daily bread".

About 1789, he moved to Wilkes County (now known as Warren County), Georgia, settling on Briar Creek.

He married about 1791/2 in Wilkes County, to Mary Hodo, daughter of Peter Hodo and Susannah Moses. He was about 23 years old. They had at least 5 children together:

  2. Louisa Amanda Cody
  3. Temperance Sophronia Cody

Cody-419 and Cody-280 appear to represent the same person because: I believe this is the merge you were talking about on Cody-419. They are the same.

I am of the opinion that Cody-419 is the same as Cody-32, and that there is an error in the DOB of Cody-419. Cody-419 is also attached to the wrong father. Michael Cody was the son of Cody-71 and not Archdeacon-32. The children of both James' and the DOB and locations do not match.
