Louisa Amanda was born in 1820 in Georgia to Michael Cody and Rebecca Rogers. She had at least 5 half-siblings: James, Mary, Peter, Elizabeth, Green Womack; and 4 siblings: Marion Michael, Temperance Sophronia, Jeptha Melton, and Madison Derrell.
3 Aug 1831 She is named in the will of her father as daughter, Louisa Amanda Cody (Proved 7 May 1832; Recorded 25 May 1832).
She attended the Briar Creek Academy in Warren County, then was sent by her mother to a school in Eatonton, Georgia
She married on 9 May 1839 in Warren County, Georgia, to James Madison Wellborn, son of Elias Wellborn and Mary Marshall. She was about 18 years old. They had at least 2 children together:
Cody family memories relate that Mr. Wellborn purchased a lot from Dr. Lynah (possibly Dr. Edward T. Lynah Find A Grave: Memorial #101704137) who planted orchards of cherries and applies. Louisa had 3 summer houses built, one on either side and one over the front gate. Mr. Wellborn and his brother, Marshall, planted a large vineyard (wild olives) for the common use of the two families.

Louisa Amanda passed away in 1862 in Georgia at about the age of 42.
Her husband's will is signed and dated on 6 Feb 1882 in Warren County, Georgia. He names their two daughters, Mary Wellborn Camak and Louisa Derrelle Dubose as executors. Witnessed by J.M.W. Cody, J.P. Swain, and Jep M. Cody. Proved 5 Aug 1889 by J.P. Swain. Letter of Testamentary dated 5 Aug 1889 to Mary Wellborn Camak of Clark Countym Georgia, and L. Derrelle DuBose of the County of Warren.
Louisa was described by her family as "a noble woman and possessed of much natural beauty... a most superior woman, literary, a splendid housekeeper, and planted her own flower garden."
