"Addison Coffin, born 1821 in North Carolina, settled in Hendricks County in 1848 and lived in Clay Township, Hendricks County, 3 miles north of the town of Amo. He is a Republican and a Friend." In a publication of 1874, his occupation was listed as "Underground Railroad"[1]

Marriage to Emily Hadley

"Addison Coffin (of Parke County, Indiana, son of Vestal Coffin, deceased and Aletha, his wife, of Guilford County, North Carolina) married Emily Hadley (daughter of Alfred Hadley and Rhoda Vestal) in Parke County, Indiana on June 25, 1845. Witnesses include Semira Coffin and Wm. Coffin" [2]

Addison and Emily Coffin of Hendricks County, Indiana, had three children:

1. Vestal Coffin, born 8-22-1848 in Hendricks County, Indiana. He died on May 13, 1841, having lived for 2 years and 13 days. [3] 2. Trenmore Coffin, born Aug. 22, 1848 at Hadley, Hendricks, Indiana; died in 1904 at Renov, Washoe, Nevada. 3. Milton Coffin, born Dec. 26,1850 in Hendricks County, Indiana; died June 26, 1853 in Hendricks County, Indiana, aged 2 years and 6 months. [4]

Marriage to Ruth Hadley

Addison Coffin married Ruth Ann Hadley on May 18, 1854 in Hendricks County, Indiana. Ruth was the daughter of Joshua and Rebecca (Hinshaw) Hadley.

Addison and Ruth had three children:

1. Job Coffin, born June 13, 1856 in Hendricks County; died June 27, 1858 in Hendricks County. [5] 2. Ida Coffin, born July 13, 1860 in Hendricks County, died Jan. 1, 1914 in Clay, Henricks County. 3. Mordecai E. Coffin, born Feb. 9, 1862," [6] died Oct. 31, 1865. Henricks County, aged 2 years, 1 month, and 9 days. [7]

Addison Coffin is buried in the Hadley Friends Cemetery, Hadley, Hendricks County, Indiana.
