Biography

When Wilma L Collett was born on February 24, 1929, in Stella, Oklahoma, her father, Thomas, was 24, and her mother, Ethel, was 19. She married Glenard Ray Vaught on December 12, 1946, in Cleveland, Oklahoma.[1] She died on May 10, 2014, in Noble, Oklahoma, at the age of 85, and was buried in Norman, Oklahoma.[2]

Wilma L. Vaught, 85, of Norman passed away Saturday, May 10, 2014 in Noble. She was born February 24, 1929 in Stella, Oklahoma to Thomas and Ethel (Smith) Collett.

Wilma was a loving sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed sewing and cooking. Wilma was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Norman for 67 years. She worked for Walmart for 15 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mildred Johnson; and brother, Donald Collett. Wilma is survived by her husband, Glen Vaught of 67 years; her four children, Diane Simmons, Janice White, Steve Vaught, and Ann Goldsberry; brother, Ronald Collett; sister, Joan Todd; four grandchildren, Erin McCune and her husband Brandon, Laura Thompson and her husband Rob, Jill Stokely and her husband Sam, and Wes White and his wife Brandy; and eleven great grandchildren and one on the way.

The family will be present during visitation to receive friends from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at the Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook Street in Norman. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Immanuel Baptist Church with Pastor Ken Huddleston officiating, 1289 Northcliff Avenue in Norman with interment following at the Warren Cemetery in Norman.
