William Cook was born about 1836 in Greenstead, Essex, England. He was the son of Edward Cook and Elizabeth unknown. In 1841, William was residing with his parents and siblings in Ipswich Road, Greenstead, Essex. [1] A decade later, he was 15-years-old and still living at home, but was occupied as a farm labourer, just like his father. [2]
