DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Henry by comparing test results with other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Henry:
Henry Cook, seems to be quite the mystery. Based off of several Ancestry.com trees He is knowns as H R Cook, and Henry Rufus Cook, marrier to one Sarah Snyder, and has three children, Henry Rufus Cook Jr, Marvel Cook, and Angeline Cook. Census records show Marvel, Angeline, and Marvels wife and son living together. All in NC near Asheville. A death certificate for HRC Jr. shows names Sarah Snyder and HRC Sr. Outside of ancestry.com, however, he becomes a murky mess. Here he is shown with zero lineage. On family search, his wife is different, and his children are different, but his parents, and date of birth are the same (siblings are a mess but all trees include a handful of similar names while lacking other). I have found zero reference to Sarah Snyder/Cook, Angeline Cook, or Marvel Cook (outside of his civil war record) outside of Ancestry.Com. HRC Jr is more attested to. The lineage from myself to HRC Sr. is all but certain, but there seems to be no documentation that fully varifies HRC Sr is in fact the same Henry Cook descended from Peter Cooke.
