Biography
Katherine Cooke was the daughter of Sir Anthony Cooke and Anne FitzWilliam, she was born in Essex. Her father, Sir Anthony was persistent in educating his daughters. Anne became one of the most learned women of her time. She was educated in Latin, Greek, and other Humanist subjects. It was her father's belief that women should be educated as well as men and that it would make his daughters more desirable choices as wives. [1][2][3]
Katherine died during childbirth on 27 Dec 1583. She was living at Hendon in the Borough of Barnet in Middlesex. She had written her own epitaph which was mostly in Latin. She was entered at St Thomas the Apostle in London. [5][7]
Notes
In 1752 the calendar in England changed from old style to new style. Previous to 1752 the new year began on March 25th in 1752 it was changed and began January 1st. Dates prior to 1752 occurring between January 1st and March 25th will be recorded as dual years to reflect the change.
Hendon was an estate located in the Borough of Barnet, Middlesex. It became a part of Greater London in 1965. [8]
St Thomas the Apostle in London burnt down during the great fire of 1666. Several of the inscriptions were transcribed from her memorial including one by her sister Elizabeth. They were recorded in both Latin and Greek. [7]

Cooke-2303 and Cooke-172 appear to represent the same person because: Clear duplicates. Cooke-2303 is unsourced and the dates are estimated. There was only one Katherine Cooke born at Gidea Hall in Essex around this time.
Profile managers, I will begin work soon on Catherine's profile on behalf of the England Project Managed Profiles team. If anyone has further sources, comments, or questions please let me know.
"Catherine was the fourth daughter of Sir Anthony Cooke and Alice, daughter of Sir William Waldegrave."
There is error here. Avis Waldegrave was the wife of Sir Anthony Cooke, granddaughter of the Sir Anthony Cooke who was the father of Katherine Cooke-172 - his third daughter, according to most of the evidence. * The grandson Sir Anthony did not appear to have a daughter Catherine.
* Yet in Sir Anthony's Will, Katherine is listed last of the 4 surviving daughters.
Son Anthony's birthday as given here has to be wrong - he was the oldest son. There seems to be insufficient time for Richard, Edward and Katherine all to be born about 1530. It would seem more likely that Katherine's birth date here is incorrect and she was indeed the 4th not the third daughter, after Elizabeth and before Margaret.
The parish register of St Thomas the Apostle, London records the following :-
"A stillborn child of Mr Killigrewe's buried in the newe churchyard the xxth of December 1563"
the next entry is
"[blank] Killigrewe the wife of Mr Killigrewe was buried the xxviith of December 1563"
