Biography

The following data was included in the gedcom. You may wish to edit it for readability.

NOTES

  • Birth location was "Chester, Chester, South Carolina, United States" but there were no United States until 1776 so the next closest location was Camden District, Chester, South Carolina, United States " then "Camden, South Carolina ".

  • I found this on FamilySearch with hopes it may give some data to inspire some solutions on sourcing this woman:
"Elizabeth Cooper was the eldest daughter of Capt. Robert Cooper, Revolutionary War Soldier and his wife, Jane Hamilton. Capt. Cooper entered service as a Private and was promoted to Captain in Trecay's Regiment, at Sumters defeat. ( from Chester Dist., SC. State Dept. Collection, SC. DAR # 44865.)"
"Elizabeth may have been born in New Jersey where her parents were married or South Carolina along with her other siblings."
South Carolina state records mention she assisted the Continental Army by "furnishing supplies to the soldiers". Her father Robert made the statemnts with the claims he made for the provisions he furnished for the army. She would've been between 12 and 13 during this time, thus the only daughter to fit this description and it is assumed "she was no doubt the young girl who carried them (the provisions her father described) to the men other fields. (Liillian Roberts; HUGH COOPER Of Fishing Creek, SC) [1] Becky Elizabeth
Elizabeth married John Patten around the time her grandfather, Hugh Cooper, died.

It appears from the records that Elizabeth died in the winter of1813, leaving six sons, the eldest being under nineteen and the youngestabout six: John; Thomas Simpson; WILLIAM HAMILTON; James, Melville;Robert Cooper; and Sebastian. In the settlement of the estate of her father, Robert Cooper, herbrother was named guardian of the minor children of John Patton andElizabeth Cooper Patton deceased.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Elizabeth by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Elizabeth:
