Clara was born July 31, 1827 in Surrey, England and was baptised on September 19, 1832 at St George the Martyr Church in Southwark, Surrey. She is the daughter of William Cope and Mary Ann Ockley. Her sister Mary Ann born 1826 was baptised at the same time. At that time, their father was a victualler and they lived on High Street, Borough..[1]
In 1841, Clara age 14 and her sister Mary age 15 were pupils at the school of William and Elizabeth Rogers on Church Hill in Eythorn, Kent. Among the 8 pupils was a girl named Elizabeth Elvin age 9.[2]
Clara died at the age of 14 in the county of Kent and was buried October 23, 1841 in the churchyard of St Mary the Virgin, Dover, Kent. At the time, her residence was on Snargate Street.[3][4]
