Elisabeth was born in 1781 or 1782 depending on which record is correct. She married James Fullerton on October 28, 1801.[1] Her date of death is not known - no official record found.
Research Notes
Her birth date is in question. The children of this family are all named in the "Heirs of Henry Gorgum" in the Chester town records.[2] and it says there that Elizabeth was born February 21, 1782. The first four children plus the tenth appear in the baptism records of the Dutch Reformed Church which shows Elizabeth baptized on May 9, 1782 stating she was born November 9, 1781.[3] There is also a baptism in the St. Stephen's Anglican records (Chester) dated May 10, 1782 for an Elisabeth, daughter of Henry and Elisabeth Gorkum.[4] Was she baptized twice or could this be someone else? There doesn't appear to be another Henry and Elizabeth Gorkum in Chester. Oddly, nine of Henry's children do not appear in any baptism records found.
