I am not sure why my John Parr came here, but his wife Mary Corwin seems to have come from Long Island and descends from the Corwin family of Salem, MA and LI, but I am not sure which branch. The Salem and LI branches were founded by two brothers---George Corwin in Salem and Mathias Corwin in LI. My first guess was that she was the descendant of George and came from Salem MA with her brother Bartholomew Corwin, descendant of the first George Corwin and son of Sheriff George Corwin of Salem who hanged the witches and then went into hiding in Rhode Island---just across the bay from LI, but she may have been from the LI Corwins.

I believe, but cannot prove, that my John Parr was from the New England Parrs who migrated from MA, ME, and NH to Rhode Island, but I also have no proof of that.

This couple appears to have lived in both NJ and Queens, NY. He may have been the Capt. of a ship that traveled from Boston to Perth Amboy.

NYC Marriages 1600s - 1800s (The New York Genealogical and Biographical Record (quarterly), 1918) shows born 17?? marriage in 1718 between Mary Curwin and ???, J. Parr in Southold, Suffolk, NY.
