Jonathan Coy was born May 6, 1687, the son of Matthew and Ann (Brewster) Coy of Norwich and Preston, Connecticut^{[1] [2]}

Before 1716, he married Abigail, whose surname and parents are not known^[1]. Their children included:

1. Jonathan, baptized Feb 26, 1721^[1]
2. Samuel, baptized Feb 26, 1721^[1]
3. Abiah, baptized Feb 26, 1721, who married Ruth Wedge and Judith Luce, and died in Maine in 1783^[1]

6. John, baptized July 18, 1725, who married Sarah Luce, Miriam Murdock and Tenny Unknown^[1]
