Biography

Lincey Crawford, 77, died unexpectedly Thursday, October 29, 1998, at Putnam Community Medical Center in Palatka.

A native Floridian he was born in Moniac on March 12, 1921, and made Crescent City his home for over sixty five years, coming from St. George, Ga. He served his country with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed with Miller Enterprises in Crescent City for over thirty years maintaining refrigeration units. He also worked for Producers Hardware. He enjoyed working at the Catfish Festivals making sure all of the cookers were in good working order. Although he was not a member, he was awarded Rotary's Paul Harris Award for his dedicated service. He loved working and gardening. He was especially interested in tractors of all types. He was a Baptist by denomination.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jeanette Crawford of Crescent City; son and daughter-in-law, George L. and Cherita L. Crawford of Crescent City; daughters and sons-in-law, Lincey Carolyn and Robert Middleton of Pomona Park and Gail and Ronnie Byrd of Crescent City; half brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Pat Siverling of Hartselle, Ala.; sister and brother-in-law, Frances and William F. Barber of Palatka; grandchildren, Melissa Carolyn and Wade Carmichael.

Funeral services were held Saturday, 2 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Scott Furman officiating. Burial followed in Eden Cemetery. Clayton Frank and Sons Funeral Home is handling arrangements. (Platka Daily News Obituary dtd 3 Nov 1998.)
