Biography

James was likely born about 1715. In 1739, when he would have been about 24 years old, he married Keziah Saunders at the Prince Frederick Winyah church in Craven County, Colonial South Carolina.^[1]

Of the settlers at Sandy Bluff, Crawfords along with Sanders and Gibsons accumulated the largest properties. John Crawford, the first of that name had three sons: James, John and Hardy. James the eldest amassed a large forturne for the that day. Thus we have the origin of the once extensive family of Crawfords--to whom they married and what children, they had, we are pretty much in the dark. Paraphrased.^[2]
