His marriage to Fanny Chapman was by publishing of banns. The witnesses were Slias Emes and Levi Crittenden.
In 1814, Private Amos Draper served in the 1st York Militia during the War of 1812. He had to be 16 years old to serve and may have been too young in 1812 and 1813. From Feb. 23 to 24, 1814, he was employed in public service at York in Captain Reuben Richardson’s Company. [1]
From Feb. 25 to Mar. 23, 1814, he served in a detachment employed in public service at York. [2]
From May 10 to 12, 1814, he served with James in Capt. Jeremiah Travis’ Detachment employed on public service at York. Public service may have included working on road ways and bridges. [3]
Amos is found in the 1851 Canadian Census. The information is as follows: Surname: Crittenden, Given Name: Amos, Gender: Male, Age: 53, Province: Canada West (Ontario), District Name: York (county), District Number: 42, Sub-District Name: North Gwillimbury, Sub-District Number: 405, Page Number: 21, Microfilm: C-11761, Reference: RG 31, Item Number: 328367. It also states he was born in New York, USA and he was of no Christian denomination. His occupation is listed as a yeoman.
In 1857, Amos Crittenden was bequeathed "the North Easterly forty nine acres of Lot Sixteen in the third Concession of the said Township of North Gwillimbury" from his uncle Joel Draper's estate. [4]
