Biography

This profile is part of the Cross Name Study.

Ruth was born between 1737 and 1742 in Baltimore County, Maryland, USA. She was the daughter of Robert Crosse. (John and Diane Lane (Tracy) Cross). Ruth had nine siblings

Ruth married Joseph Cole Nov 30 1760 in Truro Massachusetts

  • SOLOMON5 COLE, SR., b. 11-03-1753, Baltimore, MD; d. 1841, SC.
  • JOSEPH COLE, JR., b. Abt. 1754, Baltimore Co., MD; d. 11-28-1822, Wilson Co., TN.
  • FEMALE COLE, b. Abt. 1756, Baltimore Co., MD; m. BENJAMIN BEACHBOARD.
  • MATTHEW COLE, b. Abt. 1760, Baltimore, MD; d. Bef. 1830, Buncombe Co., NC.
  • ELISHA COLE, b. Abt. 1761, Baltimore Co., MD; m. ELIZABETH MAYS, Abt. 1800.
  • JOHN COLE, b. Abt. 1762.
  • THOMAS COLE, b. Abt. 1764.
  • WILLIAM COLE, b. Abt. 1766; d. 1802, Laurens Co., SC.
  • DANIEL COLE, b. Abt. 1768.

It is possible that Solomon b. 1753 is the child of one of Joseph's siblings. I say that because it is before their marriage and she would have been eleven years old.

Ruth passed away in 1822 in Baltimore. Ruth was buried in the Family Cemetery, family members say it is no longer there but they did a memorial for her

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Ruth by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Ruth:
