Biography

'There is no record of John Cross's birth or death. I have estimated his birth date based on the record of his marriage and the 1830 Census. In the 1830 Census it was stated that he was between 50 and 59 years old. Most men, at that time, married for the first time around the age of 20. He was married in 1795. So I estimated his birth year to be 1773, but this could be as much as 5 years off. The 1830 Census was the last census where he was counted. So he must have died between 1830 and 1840. I chose 1835 as a compromise.
