Biography

Helen Mae Cross was born December 04, 1921 in Oran, Missouri to Claude Willis Cross and Opal Hampton.

At the 1930 Census, Helen was living with her mother, father, and two younger sisters, Hazel and Carmeletta at 501 North Main Street, Cape Girardeau, Missouri. They rented a shared home with several other families. Helen and her sister Hazel both attended school.[1]

On September 03, 1938 she married Alvin Wiley in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.[2] Together, they had six children.

At the 1940 Census, Helen and Alvin were renting at 601 South Benton Street, Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Both Helen and Alvin worked full time; Helen as a cafe waitress and Alvin as a driver for a local trucking company.[3]

Alvin was enlisted in the US Army from September 09, 1944 until February 21, 1946.

Helen passed away February 03, 2009 in Girard, Illinois.[4]
