Biography

Nathan Crowell was born in December 21, 1779[1], the son of Thomas Crowell and Sarah Kinnie, who settled in Barrington, Nova Scotia[2]

About 1802, Nathan Crowell married Rebecca Hopkins, daughter of Samuel Hopkins[2], and their children included:

  1. Nathan Crowell, b. 1813, who married Ann daughter of Rev. Thomas Crowell, and had children, including
    1. Nathan who married Sophia Crowell, daughter of Andrew Crowell[3], and had a daughter: Susan.
    2. Gilbert who married Lydia Spinney, of Argyle, Yarmouth, Nova Scotia[4], and had children including: William, Ethel, Stella, Clara, Marion, Elizabeth, Shirley
  2. James born 1808, who married 1833 Chloe, daughter of Josiah P. Doane, and had children, including:
    1. Prince who married Caroline daughter of John Knowles, and had children including Charles D. m. Isabel d. Joseph Hopkins. William, Herbert, Orlando, Fanny.
    2. James who married Mary, daughter of Elijah Wood[5], and had children, including: Fred, Percy, Horace, Bertha, Chloe.
    3. Josiah who married Matilda daughter of John Wilson[6], and then married Williamary (Wilson) Hopkins[7], and had children including: James, Ella.
    4. Mary, (unmarried.)
  3. William born 1806 who married Mary daughter of Heman Crowell, and had children, including
    1. Nathan who married Susan Shepherd and had a daughter named Josephine.
    2. Sophronia born 1844, who married Valores Fish[8].
    3. Michael, born 1838, who married Mary Hayes from Halifax[9].
    4. Olivia who married Henry Swain, and then married David Smith of Port Latour
    5. William, who married Susan daughter of Nehemiah Crowell, and second married Abigail Nickerson his children included: Thomas who married Deborah Garron[10]and Clarence, unmarried
  4. Olivia born 1803 married Colin Crowell, son of Paul Crowell
  5. Jemima born October 10, 1810 who married Samuel Atwood, son of Elisha Atwood (see Findagrave #76302173)

Nathan Crowell died 27 October 1814[11]
