Biography

Henry Harrison Cumings Jr. was born on 24 Aug 1871 in Tidioute, Warren, Pennsylvania, United States. His parents were Captain Henry Harrison Cumings (1840 - 1913) and Charlotte Jane (Sink) Cumings (1846 - 1913).

He attended the Tidioute Public Schools, followed by a year at Oberlin, then three years at Allegheny College in Meadville, PA. Initially going into the oil refining business with brother-in-law Theodore Horatio Ellis (1867-1945) for a few years, Henry was called to Rome, NY to take over managment of Stanwix Hall, one of the hotels owned by his grandfather, Andrew Jackson Sink (1823-1880), and continued to be a hotelier for the remainder of his career.

Henry married Bertha Garetta Pierce (1871 - 1945) on 15 Jul 1896 in Erie, Pennsylvania..[1]

After they divorced, Henry married second Cora E Smith (~1885 - ) on 24 Jan 1924 in Atlantic City, Atlantic, New Jersey., [2]

The couple retired to St. Petersburg, Pinellas, Florida, where Henry died on 28 Dec 1928 at age 57. He is buried in Royal Palm South Cemetery, St. Petersburg, Florida.
