Biography

William Dale Curtis, 72, of Wheeler, Midland County, Michigan died Saturday morning, October 17, 2015 at the Mid-Michigan Medical Center. Bill was born on July 16, 1943 in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan, the son and only child of the late Clare Mosher Curtis and Elizabeth Victoria (Gill) Curtis. Surviving is his former wife Diana Lee (Clouser) whom he married on September 20, 1968 in Livonia, Wayne County, Michigan. They divorced in 1982. Their daughter Jaime Lee (Rob) Byrd survives along with two grandchildren Cameron Lee and Sloane Elizabeth. Surviving also is Bill's current wife, the former Barb Gast whom he married on May 01, 1987 in Newport, Oregon. Bill began his career as a telephone installer with the Michigan Bell Telephone Company (now AT&T) in Detroit, Michigan and after 28 years retired as a supervisor in 1991 in Saginaw, Michigan. Bill and Diana began their marriage in a small home in Detroit and in 1972 built a home in Farmington Hills, and in 1979 purchased and moved his family to a home on a 23 acre farm in Wheeler, Midland Co., Michigan, where Bill remained with his now wife Barb. Bill was a member of the NRA and Pheasants Forever. Bill served two years with the Michigan Army National Guard surviving the 1967 Detroit blind-pig riot. He had enjoyed camping, hunting and snowmobiling with his family and friends. The last several years Bill spent much of the summer and fall at his log cabin in the woods north of Crystal Falls in the Michigan's Upper Peninsula. In keeping with Bill's wishes, cremation has taken place. memorial services will take place at a later date. Services for bill have been entrusted to the care of the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Directors.
